Regulations regarding use of parking lots managed by “Rīgas satiksme” have been updated, several changes will take effect on October 1
“Rīgas satiksme” informs that on August 21, 2020 the temporary administration of Riga City Council approved several changes to the regulations of use of the parking lots managed by “Rīgas satiksme” and several of these changes will take effect on October 1.
The regulations specify that starting from October 1 it will be possible to pay the reduced amount of postpaid parking lot charge by bank transfer.
Among other things, starting from October 1 changes will be made in the R zone territory of the municipal paid parking lots, reducing the area of B zone. Zone change will be done in 11 Novembra krastmala (in the stone-paved street sections) from Jauniela to Bīskapa gāte and from Bīskapa gāte to Poļu gāte. This will encourage decrease of traffic flow in A and R zone in the Riga Historical Centre.
The requirement to have the vehicle of the parking lot user equipped with SMS payment system user recognition label, when paying by SMS, has been deleted from the regulations.
The binding regulations also state that if an official holiday – May 4, closing day of the general Latvian song and dance festival and November 18 – is Saturday or Sunday, then the use of the paid parking lot will be free of charge on the following working day, which has been declared as holiday in accordance with the law. But if the working day is transferred to a weekend, the charge will apply.
Besides, in order to encourage more successful process of festive events in Riga and allow for a more wider range of persons participating in these festivities, and taking into account that parking of vehicles is prohibited in some of the paid parking lots due to the festive proceedings, free-of-charge use of paid parking lots is foreseen during the traditional Riga festivities as well.
